Graduates of this program will have unique and marketable knowledge and skills to further careers in physical education, coaching, sport management and exercise science. The Sport & Exercise Science Program, composed of three components research, pedagogy, and a specialization, can be completed in two years or less.
Students have the option of choosing between the following emphasis areas:
Physical Education (advanced pedagogy or initial licensure)*,
Sport Management, or
Sport & Exercise Science
(*Note: This program is intended to provide students the option of pursuing teacher certification regardless of undergraduate degree area. Students pursuing initial licensure are required to take 12 credit hours of research and 24 credit hours in the physical education specialization.)
Program Requirements
Program Requirements - For all programs:
- All specializations have an online component, which REQUIRES Internet access and an e-mail address.
- All students must purchase a single person use for the program SPSS.
- All degree-seeking students must complete an Intent to Graduate form at least one full year prior to graduation.
Admissions requirements
- Submit a copy of teaching certificate, if applicable;
- Submit OFFICIAL copy of Graduate test scores. These must be directly from the Testing Service: Graduate Record Examination (GRE-general) 800 OR Miller Analogies Test (MAT) 380; OR if a incoming student has a current teaching certificate (license) this may be used in place of the GRE or MAT.
- Anyone seeking an initial teacher's license must complete a traditional student teaching semester (requiring residence in or near Lebanon, TN). Other state and university requirements apply. Please contact the Licensure Officer with questions.
