2017-2018 Undergraduate Catalog

Exercise and Sport Science

The Cumberland University Exercise and Sport Science program promotes active participation in sport and physical activity across the life span. The program prepares future professionals for careers in fitness/wellness, strength and conditioning, preventative healthcare, graduate programs in EXSS-Exercise Physiology, and pre-professional preparation for other allied healthcare professions such as Physical Therapy or Physician Assistant programs.

Successful completion of the Exercise and Sport Science program prepares students to be nationally certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) and/or the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
