HIS 401 Jacksonian America

This course examines the growth of the United States from its beginnings as a fledgling republic to its expansion into a continental empire. Major themes include the development of the first and second American party systems, the democratization of American politics, westward expansion, the market revolution, and the changing roles of women and African Americans.
