Policy Provisions
1. Transfer Credit

Traditional course credit includes taking courses at Cumberland University as well as transferring coursework from another accredited college or university into Cumberland University. When applying to Cumberland University, students are required to submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities the student has previously attended. The application process includes a review of credit for transfer into Cumberland University by the Registrar’s Office.

The review process involves a review of course descriptions, credit hours earned, and the accreditation of the college or university where the course credit was earned. Only credit earned at regionally accredited colleges and universities is considered for and allowed to be transferred into Cumberland University.

Up to a total of 90 credit hours of transfer credit may be accepted toward undergraduate degree completion; however, only 70 credit hours (of the 90) may be transferred from a regionally accredited community college. All students must complete their final 30 credit hours for degree completion at Cumberland University.

The Registrar’s Office (615.547.1228) notifies students of the results of their transfer credit review.

Cumberland University reserves the right to determine course equivalency regarding acceptance of transfer academic credits.
