General Description
Description: Cumberland University recognizes the importance of developing and maintaining an appropriate website. The purpose of the University’s website is to provide online access to the University whereby internal and external users may obtain information about the University, its programs and services. To this end, the CU website is considered an official University publication in electronic format which communicates the vision, mission, aims and philosophy of the college. The website functions to inform, encourage and persuade individuals to seek higher education in the context of a contemporary liberal arts setting. Additionally, the CU website exists to support the instructional process in innovative and creative ways, provide students with online access to services and programs, and facilitate the development of a viable learning community.
Purpose: Cumberland University is the sole owner of the information collected on this website. The University does not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. Information that is on the website is gathered from multiple campus or community sources with full permission for its use.
Scope: All Departments
Exceptions: The following are exceptions to this policy:
The Athletic Department operates a separate website, but all material for this site must ultimately be approved by the Executive Director of Communications and PR.

Permission for additional staff members responsible for this policy must be provided by the Executive Director of Communications and PR.

Cumberland University is dedicated to fair information practices on this internet site and periodically reviews and revises its privacy practices. The University respects the privacy of prospective students, parents, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other individuals who use the CU web site. The site is designed with privacy as a priority. All content for the website must be submitted to and receive approval from the Executive Director of Communications and PR.
