Mission of the School of Science, Technology, and Business
The mission of the Labry School of Science, Technology and Business (LSSTB) is to contribute substantively to the core curriculum through mathematics and the natural sciences, and to offer Cumberland University students the opportunity to major in a number of modern professional programs such as business and information technology. The curricula are designed to provide a fundamental grounding in the liberal arts and to allow students to sharpen their powers of observation, analysis, and evaluation. In addition, the market relevant programs enable students to further develop communication, critical thinking, and decision making skills in order to prepare them for graduate studies and/or professional careers. This contemporary perspective on curricula is underscored with an emphasis on practical application, teamwork, ethics, internships, and experiential learning. (Revised 01/30/15)
The Labry School of Science, Technology, and Business offers the Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Arts in Business (AAB), Bachelor of Science (BS), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees.

Internships that provide opportunities for students to gain valuable practical experience are required for all business majors and are strongly encouraged for all students. Admission to an internship will require that the student have a minimum GPA of 2.50 and recommendations of three Labry School professors whose courses the student is taking in the current semester or has taken within the past year. It will be the responsibility of the advisor to determine eligibility. For additional details also see the Internships section of the catalog.
