NUR 408 Nursing in Child and Family Care

This course covers the theoretical basis for intervention with the child and family in various stages of development, in degrees of wellness, and multicultural backgrounds. The course also provides an introduction to the pediatric nursing specialty; a review of child growth and development; principles of family-centered care; child health assessment; hospitalizations and pediatric interventions; child health promotion and care of the child with an acute, chronic or terminal illness, a disability, cognitive or sensory impairment and dysfunctions in the following systems:  cardiovascular, cerebral, endocrine, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, hematologic, immunologic, integumentary, musculoskeletal, neurologic, and respiratory. Three classroom hours and two clinical credit hours per week (90 clinical hours/semester). Fees: $245.00 testing fee and $50 laboratory fee.
